I really did not want to write one of these, but I do ask for a e-mail address when you register, so I should state publicly what I do with it. You e-mail address is collected for the eventuality that you forget your password. That's pretty much it.

Will I sell your e-mail address? Nope. Not even for a zillion dollars. I hate SPAM even more than you, and will not be contributing to it. Hell, having registered the domain JoltFinder.com I've had to put a lot more than just my e-mail addie out there in public. It sucks, but I am used to it. Information like that has been in WHOIS since INTERNIC was the only registar in town, and you had to have an INTERNIC handle to register domains (mine was LCB6). I probably get more spam than you.

Is my e-mail displayed on the site? Nope. No plans to do so either. If I do add functionality to contact other Jolt Finders the messages will be relayed through the system, and e-mail addresses will be double-blind. And in the event I get around to writing this messaging system (don't count on it anytime soon) there will be the option to opt-out if you don't want your fellow Jolt Finders talking to you, you anti-social nerd, you.

Will you ever use my e-mail address for something other than forgotton passwords? Probably not. I don't forsee having to e-mail you about anything, but you never know so I can't give a definate "nope". I will not spam you with non-Jolt Finder related e-mails. I will not send out a mass-mailing to Jolt Finders asking for money. If I am going to send an e-mail to all the Registered Jolt Finders, its gonna be DAMN important, and so immediate in concern that I can't wait for you to read the news on the homepage. I don't think it will ever happen, but then again you never know, so I won't promise.

I might e-mail a registered Jolt Finder individualy if I think they are way cool and doing a great job, or if they are being big jerks. But then again, probably not.

Do I have to provide an e-mail address when registering? Yep. But if you are really uncool about that, use a fake one. I don't care. If you forget your password, you will be out of luck, and all your karma you made will be set in stone never to get better (or worse). You can start over with a new username, but I would keep better track of your password the second time around.

This privacy policy was written without refering to any others, or getting any advice from someone who knows how to write these things. It was pretty much written off the cuff at two in the morning from ideas I've been kicking around in my head for a few weeks. If you are still upset about me having your e-mail address, just realize that mine is linked at the bottom of every page and in the WHOIS information for this domain. I'm taking a way bigger risk than you. But I already get about 3 zillion spams a day, so its hard to tell if something new is contributing to the daily deluge.
