Jolt Finder News:

November 4, 2006: There has been a little SNAFU with how passwords were stored, making it so no one could log in. This has been FIXED. Unfortunatly everyone needs to have their passwords reset using the I Forgot My Password page. Here is hoping you used a working e-mail address when you registered. If you need help, there is an e-mail link to me on the bottom of every page.

CLICK HERE TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD

Once you have reset your password, you can change it again by using the Change Password page.

May 19, 2006: Today at one of my favorite Jolt Buying locations, I found a new product: Jolt Silver in a battery can. This product has been listed in the Database. I suggest you check out your locations and use the My Locations page and update your location if the new product is found there!

March 15, 2006: I've added some new functionality to Jolt Finder. There is now a new page, My Locations that will show you the locations you have found, and allow you to edit them.

March 13, 2006: We're not dead yet! There has been a request to add Jolt Gum to the products list. I could go either way on this. If you have an opinion, head over to the livejournal [info]joltfinder community and fill out the POLL.

Jan. 21, 2005: There was some spurious data in one of my tables, which was messing up some entries. Its fixed. I think it was left-over test data, but if it happens again, something is messed up. I will be contacting the Jolt Finders who have affected locations via e-mail.
tweak, skadogg, roadwarrior3f8, and kc9dre, this means you.
Sorry, Folks, Drink Up!

January 10, 2005: It appears that the Jolt product line has changed. I have added the new "battery can" products to the database. For now the old (discontinued?) prodcuts will stay. Looks like I may have to write a mechanism to update a location after all. It was on my to do list, but may have to be moved up in priority. We should discuss these things in the livejournal [info]joltfinder community. (You do not have to be a livejournal member to reply to posts, but livejournal is cool, and accounts are free.)
December 15, 2004 : The dismal numbers here (16 Locations, and 28 Jolt Finders as of this writing) are because I have no idea how to promote the site.

On Monday October 18, @03:39PM I submitted a story to slashdot, hoping that we would get a flood of users, if the story was accepted. I have been told that stories are usually accepted or rejected within hours. As of this writing, the story is still pending.

So now I am going to submit a story to digg. Keep your fingers crossed. And if you found this site from digg, Welcome!

2004-10-17 : As I mention in the FAQ, one of the reasons for the ugly site design in accesability. I was recently informed by a friend who uses the popular JAWS reader, that Jolt Finder "is very JAWS friendly".

Any suggestions to make Jolt Finder more accessable is very welcome. My e-mail is at the bottom of every page.

10/04/2004 : I added a couple buttons to the Find Jolt Form. The "Show All Locations" button will, amazingly enough, display all the locations entered into the database, 25 at a time. The "Show Random Location" button will either show a random location from the database, or cause a hurricane to hit Florida, please use with caution.
The hurricane effect is random chance and very rare

9/23/2004 : I could not put it off any longer, WE ARE OUT OF BETA

I reset the user and location tables, and you will need to re-register as a Jolt Finder if you were registered in the past. From here on out, please enter REAL Jolt-selling locations. Let's see if this experiment in community-built databases works!

DRINK UP, JOLT FINDERS!

9/17/2004 : We are now hosted on our new home, so I don't slashdot my best friend's server hosted on his cable modem, but instead slashdot another good friend's server that has a lot of bandwidth and survived a slashdotting already. So now we are in BETA 2. If you want keep entering test data, that would be excellent of you. I hope to soon register the domain joltfinder.com and once that is done, the database will be emptied, and I will try to get this announced on slashdot, as well as other places on the net.

So why the long break? Well, before finishing Jolt Finder completely I got my Black Belt date at New School Aikido (Stockton, CA), and my energy went towards preparing for that, instead of finishing the scripts I wanted for Jolt Finder. Then I was teaching a lot. Then we moved to Casper, WY. My isolation out here gave me the time to put the finishing touches on the script.

3/22/2003 : All the scripts are functioning, and we are officially in BETA. Don't worry about entering in any real information into the database, we will be working with test data only for the time being, so just make stuff up and plug it in.

I've set up a table "HackMe" in the database. If you are gonna try to hack my script, please just keep your experiments to this table.
